This position requires strong leadership skills, vision, creativity, imagination, emotional maturity, adaptive social skills, accountability, a Christian presence, and a desire to heal injustice in our world.
Church planting skills or the ability to learn outreach methods are ideal.
Outreach includes leadership for the Jesus and Me (JAM) program; Vacation Bible School, and actively participating in the life of LeSueur UMC church and the greater community.
This is a 32-40 hour per week position with benefits.
English/Spanish skill set a plus.
Mentor an Inward Faith:
Build long-term relationships with children and parents in the community.
Create fresh expressions of faith that reaches those outside of the faith community.
Create an inclusive, youth-led faith and fellowship group open to the community.
Role-model a personal relationship with Christ in everyday situations.
Engage children and parents during church, community, and school events.
Create space for children and parents to participate orlead in worship, faith groups, and missions activities.
Camps/Mission trips:
Encourage participation in confirmation retreats, church camps, Vacation Bible School and mission trips based on age.
Chaperone, and coordinate as needed, includingregistrations, scholarships, transportation, and secure permission forms.
Foster a Heart for Mission:
Utilize mission activities as a means of outreach and demonstrating faith in action.
Identify and coordinate mission projects based on age-appropriate abilities.
Coordinate mission activities and fund raising with the Mission Team.
Mission opportunities should include a mixture of local, regional, and global experiences, including education on the disparities.
Develop a yearly mission goal, including monthly or ongoing projects, that can be incorporated into the JAM program.

) Yearly, offer one mission project out of state.
This may include family mission trips or youth/young adult focused missions.
Coordinate and conduct fund raising as needed to support chosen missions, secure release forms, transportation, and parent chaperones.
Leadership and coordination Meet with Pastor weekly.
Attend team meetings to execute the vision and objectives of the congregational ministry plan; and coordinate outreach methods that engage diverse families of all ages.
Provide overall leadership, coordination, and support volunteers for Wednesday JAM, Sunday Kids Church, Nursery and VBS, and mission events.
Coordinate the ecumenical Vacation Bible School program.
Serve as a member on the Education team.
Serve as a liaison with the Mission team to coordinate mission related activities.
Ensure that all volunteers are Safe Sanctuary Trained.
Develop user friendly and consistent check-in/out procedure for child safety.
Utilize inclusive curriculum, UMC certified, and assist and train teacher volunteers.
Communications Provide timely communication to the families and local community which may include updates in the weekly memo, social media, mail chimp, or texting.
Maintain a current database (Breeze) with addresses, phone numbers and preferred method of contact.
Include birthdays, new births, baptisms, and other pertinent family events.

Work with the education team to establish and maintain the children's ministry budget which includes comprehensive record keeping for all expenditures and debits and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
All financial reports will be turned in to the church office in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Love Jesus.
Love people.
Formal degree related to children/youth, or ministry preferred.
Personal mission experience, either coordinating or leading missions preferred.
Own reliable transportation and cell phone.
Excellent written, verbal, and digital/social networking and communication skills.
Skilled in contemporary platforms, apps, social media, and digital technology.
Experience in Sunday School, Bible School, and/or other community sponsored children or youth leadership roles.
Good organizational skills.
Creative and resourceful.
Ability to work on a ministry team.
Ability to plan, implement and evaluate activities.
Ability to work with parents of youth.
Must pass a background check Hours and Compensation:
32-40 hour per week, $38,000 - $42,000 starting wage, depending on experience.
